Classic Beats & Fills
Throughout the history of recorded music, there have been countless drum beats & fills that are so integral to the song they're in, that it's hard to imagine these songs without them! Some of these beats and fills are famous, and some are not, but all add a vital characteristic element to the song. As an example, one of the most classic drum introductions is the opening 4 bar drum pattern to "We're An American Band" by Grand Funk Railroad. That opening drum riff is so completely descriptive and recognizable to the introduction of that song, that it's hard if not impossible to imagine any other drum riff being played in that spot.
In Classic Beats & Fills, I take some of the most "characteristic" drum beats & fills, break them down, analyze them, perform them, and walk through them slowly. These beats & fills are not necessarily "the best", or "most complex", or "most challenging", (although many are), but they are classic, and help define a particular song or section of a song. An important fact to remember with all of these classic beats & fills is that it was "the drummer" that made contributions so significant that in many cases they define or help define a song or a particular section of a song!
