Description
Beat Placement is an advanced concept in modern drumming artistry, and is among the most subtle and nuanced of all drumming concepts and applications. My teaching experience has been that Beat Placement is a concept that can be difficult to apply unless one has a highly developed sense of time, which typically comes only after years of working with a metronome and playing drums and music. Nevertheless, if you are at or approaching the advanced level of your drumming artistry, it is a concept to tackle.
I am in the process of writing and recording a complete class of video lessons on this topic. In the meantime, I have posted an initial video lesson which explains the subtleties and nuances of Beat Placement. I also point out and discuss a few examples from my own drumming performances.
