Description
In this edition of Classic Beats & Fills, we’re going to take a look at a classic rock drum ending! The drum part was created and performed by the late, great, John Bonham of Led Zeppelin. The song is called “Rock & Roll”, and the drum part occurs at the very end of the song. This is not an easy part to play as it requires a reasonably advanced level of technique. The beginner student will likely struggle with this, but the intermediate to advanced student will find this a challenging and exciting fill to learn.
We’ll walk through it, playing it at tempo, and also playing it very slowly breaking it down note by note, all while looking at the notational transcription I have provided. This lesson will help your reading, coordination, technique, and understanding of the notational elements of the drum part. There are also several drum rudiments used in this drum part. This lesson includes the pdf lesson file download for practice and study.
