Description
It could be argued that this groove isn’t actually rock’s most famous tom-tom groove, but nobody can argue that it isn’t rocks most DYNAMIC tom-tom groove! And who but Neil Peart, is the genius behind this explosive rhythm!
Playing a heavy, dynamic, explosive, exciting, and intense tom-tom grove is one of the greatest thrills you’ll have as a drummer… and if it’s progressive; all the better; and your listening audience… they’re going to love it! The legendary Neil Peart created what may very well be the most famous tom-tom groove in recorded rock history! Of course, it’s part of the Iconic Rush instrumental “La Villa Strangiato”!
In this lesson, I’ll explain the rhythm, break it down to it’s fundamental elements, walk through it, demonstrate it at tempo and slowly. And for those that are interested, I have also provided an interesting, and slightly modified variation for your playing enjoyment! This lesson also includes the pdf files of the rhythms for you to download and practice.
