The snare drum is the most important and versatile drum in your drum set! Listen to any of the great drummers, and you will find example, after example, after example, of beats, fills, and solos heavily utilizing the snare drum! Learning to play the snare drum will provide you with a multitude of technical tools and musical options allowing you to more creatively incorporate this highly versatile drum into your drumming artistry. It is the mastery and implementation of the snare drum, along side other drumming techniques that helps turn a good drummer into an artist of drumming!
In Snare Drum Mastery – Classical (volume 1), we begin with a short lecture on the merits and importance of Snare Drum Mastery. Following that we have 10 classical snare drum etudes to get you started on developing your snare drum mastery in the classical genre. These Etudes may seem rigid in nature, yet they are a key step towards mastery of the snare drum. These etudes are also critical in learning how to read music, as all of the musical and notational devises of reading drum music are present! Please also check back regularly as I continue to write, record, and post more challenging and advanced etudes.
